Branched Worlds

solo project · in development

A pixel action roguelite
I'm making on my own

Top-down, real-time melee combat with combos, dashes, Ki and telekinesis. You travel between alternate versions of Earth. A run takes about 20 minutes and ends with a boss. The world I'm building now is a 17th-century Poland where the Winged Hussars caught a zombie virus.

Current build: light, light, heavy, heavy on a zombie in the training area.

Combat

Light and heavy attacks branch into different combos depending on the order you press them. Dash just as an enemy swings and you end up behind him. I played a lot of the Dragon Ball Z games on the Game Boy Advance, and they are why I wanted combos in a top-down game.

Telekinesis

Pick up enemies and objects and throw them, pull a weapon out of someone's hand, throw burning coals from a brazier. You can also knock enemies off balconies, into rivers or onto spikes. The idea comes from Psi-Ops.

Worlds

Each world split off from our history at a different point and went its own way. You can play them in any order. I'm building the hussar world now: three regions, each one a run through palisades, fords and marshes with a boss at the end.

Worlds

Six to eight are planned. I'm working on the hussar world now, the rest come after it.

I work on this alone in my spare time. The most useful thing for me right now is feedback on how the combat feels. Leave a comment under a video or send a message to the Facebook page.
